1、 The dispersion should be high

Black masterbatch is produced using carbon black. Carbon black is a very difficult to handle and dirty mixture, which is covered in dust, lightweight, and loose in shape. Unless large-scale processing measures are taken, it will dirty the machines and workers, making the working environment dirty. Because of this, foundry workers generally choose to complete the pre dispersion of carbon black on a resin carrier, which is the black masterbatch. This resin carrier is clean, free to move, and easy to use. Besides being dirty, carbon black also has a characteristic of being difficult to disperse. If the raw carbon black is directly melted during injection molding, the coloring effect will be very poor. Carbon black stripes and spots without dispersion will be significantly visible when placed next to areas with less coloring. Standard injection molding machines cannot effectively disperse carbon black.

Carbon black, which is difficult to disperse, also troubles manufacturers of coloring masterbatch. The dispersion of high load black masterbatch produced by single or double screw extruders is very poor. When the user ultimately mixes or molds these black masterbatches, their function is only slightly better than carbon black, but the same effect is unsatisfactory. To achieve a stable high dispersion, it is necessary to use a high-level shearing machine to mix carbon black, such as a mixture of FCM or BANBURY. By using sufficient strength, these mixers can thoroughly mix carbon black and base resin together. The type of carbon black used also affects the color dispersion. The smaller the carbon black particles, the more difficult their dispersion becomes.

2、 Strong masking power is necessary

Covering power is particularly important for color masterbatches used for waste or recycled polymers. In these cases, the role of black is to cover up other colors that waste guesses. The coloring ability of large particle carbon black is poor, and it is not easy to cover up all other colors in the lower layer, resulting in the product only getting a deviated color in the end. During the melting process, correctly selecting carbon black with high coloring ability to mask the existing color is called masking power.

3、 Good activity

The third factor in determining the quality of black masterbatch is rheology and activity. If a color masterbatch itself has excellent dispersion, but it cannot move into the material to be molded, then the effect of production is not ideal. Generally speaking, the base resin used for producing color masterbatch has high rheological properties. In order to save costs, some color masterbatch manufacturers use reusable materials, waste materials, or recycled materials as resin carriers. The activity function of the color masterbatch produced in this way will be significantly reduced. If the rheological properties are not good, the mold will encounter difficulties in cycle time and appearance treatment. It is worth noting that if the dispersion and rheological properties are not high, some users will eventually compensate by increasing the dilution ratio, but this approach will only increase the cost of using the color masterbatch. Color masterbatch with small dilution ratio can produce uniform and well dispersed black.

4、 Greater compatibility is required

The fourth element in determining the quality of black masterbatch is compatibility. If the color masterbatch is produced using chips or recycled materials, it may contain pollutants or other non melting polymers. This will cause some unpredictable and difficult to restrain troubles, wasting the customer's time and materials ultimately. At this point, it is possible to use a base resin to produce high-quality color masterbatch, which has outstanding compatibility during the melting process. Color masterbatch can be produced using LLDPE, LDPE, HDPE, PP, PS, SAN, PA, and other materials. If the engineering level and strict physical functions have been specified, then special polymer color masterbatch can be obtained. Several large international color masterbatch manufacturers are conducting research in order to produce the so-called ""a;"; Global universal; Color masterbatch. These color masterbatches can be widely compatible with other materials, have outstanding mobility, and can be flexibly used.

5、 Stability needs to be shared

In today's international economy, it is necessary for international customers to have high requirements for the quality of color masterbatch and the stable function of raw materials, which is also the fifth factor determining the quality of black masterbatch. A primary manifestation of stability is the stable carbon black share. If the percentage of carbon black fluctuates, then the number of color masterbatches that need to be melted is not the same, and it is not possible to produce products with the same color tone. Some final producers have reported that the dilution ratio required by chemicals usually varies by 5-8%, depending on how much information the color masterbatch manufacturer has invested in the production process. Obviously, this is unacceptable. Of course, other factors such as the activity and dispersion of molten injection should be consistent with the feeding amount of each batch.

6、 The brightness should be clear

One factor in determining the quality of black masterbatch is the brightness of the color. There are various types of carbon black available on the market for coloring masterbatches, but the colors and prices of each type also vary greatly. Large particle carbon black has lower chromaticity and different background colors compared to small particle carbon black. Large particle color masterbatch is suitable for producing products such as garbage bag films, but not for producing products that value beauty, such as TV signs or local products that require UV protection, such as agricultural films or external pipes. For these products, the only option is to use expensive small particulate carbon black. Additionally, low transparency is also a characteristic of small particulate carbon black.

7、 Classification and scale of use of ordinary carbon black

SRF carbon black is generally used for the production of garbage bags that do not require strong coloring power, high masking power, or UV protection. The color tends to be gray blue, which is cheap and relatively easy to disperse, so small masterbatch factories equipped only with single or double spiral extrusion machines will choose this carbon black. The particle size of HAF carbon black is half that of SRF carbon black particles, but the coloring intensity is twice that. It is brownish red in color, and its UV protection is significantly stronger than SRF carbon black, and its cost is lower than P carbon black. It has outstanding masking power and can be used in many ways. P carbon black is suitable for UV protection and in the food industry, with a red blue color. JET carbon black has a satisfactory color brightness, appearing as a deep, glossy black. Its particles are small but not easily dispersed. Only manufacturers equipped with shear mixers can achieve common color dispersion when using JET carbon black. It is also expensive among ordinary carbon black. Cost comparison shows that more expensive color masterbatch can economically achieve better production performance than cheaper color masterbatch.
